What is Post Rehab personal training?
Post-Rehab personal training is geared for the client who has been discharged from Physical Therapy or Chiropractic Care/services who want to bridge the gap to get back to their ultimate goals, adventures, and lifestyles but afraid that they are not ready to jump back into traditional training. Quite often, insurance companies dictate early discharge from Physical Therapy service before the patient is truly recovered and/or ready to engage in their normal activities. Very few personal trainers have the skill set, education, training, patience, and desire to help meet clients over the age of 60 where they need to be met and doing so SAFELY especially if we are dealing with various orthopedic and neurological conditions.
This is where I come in with over 25 years of experience on both sides of the fitness and physical therapy isle! I do need to mention again that this is NOT A PHYSICAL THERAPY service! If you have been told by your provider that you need Physical Therapy, then you must go and exhaust that medical need and be discharged before I can work with you. Also, if I collaborate with you and feel what you need is beyond my scope of practice, I will not hesitate to stop working with you and refer you on to the more appropriate provider including physical therapy.
I have experience working in the post rehab personal training/fitness environment with the following conditions:
Orthopedic concerns:
-Any kind of joint sprains or bone fractures
-Low back pain
-Muscle strains
-Post surgical including joint replacements ( I had my hip replacement three years ago!)
Neurological conditions:
-Parkinson’s disease
-Multiple sclerosis
-CVA/Stroke
PLEASE NOTE!
This is NOT a Physical Therapy practice!
If you need medical attention, you must first be seen by a medical provider and cleared for exercise by your medical provider. This could also mean your provider recommends Physical Therapy which I do not do. There are many wonderful Physical Therapy clinics in the Albuquerque and East Mountain area from outpatient, to rehabilitation hospitals, skilled nursing, to home health physical therapy! Once you are discharged from Physical Therapy, then we could re-visit sessions with me. Once again, mobile PERSONAL TRAINING visits ONLY! I will not hesitate to refer you out to a Physical Therapy clinic if your needs are beyond personal training. With that said, there are times it is possible to work in tandem with your Physical Therapist and work on deficits that are not addressed.
Please reach out if you are a Physical Therapy clinic as I'm always looking for great clinicians to refer my clients, family, and friends to that are close to their homes. Also, if you are a PT clinic and would like to chat about cross referrals, please reach out. I think we should all help each other out!
