Frequently Asked Questions...

What I Do
My primary role is as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) at Santo Domingo Health Clinic, where I work as part of a clinical team helping patients recover from injuries, surgeries, and chronic conditions.
In addition to my clinical work, I also serve as an in-home concierge personal trainer, balance coach, and movement consultant in the Albuquerque area. In this role, I specialize in helping people—particularly adults over 60—move and function better so they can enjoy fuller, more active lives.

Important Note: When I work with clients in their homes, I am operating solely as a personal trainer and movement coach—not as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. If a concern arises that falls outside my scope of practice, I will refer you to a qualified Physical Therapist or healthcare provider.

Please Note:
This is NOT a Physical Therapy practice!
If you need medical attention, you must first be seen by a medical provider and cleared for exercise by your medical provider. This could also mean your provider recommends Physical Therapy which I do not do. There are many wonderful Physical Therapy clinics in the Albuquerque and East Mountain area from outpatient, to rehabilitation hospitals, skilled nursing, to home health physical therapy! Once you are discharged from Physical Therapy, then we could re-visit sessions with me. Once again, this if for mobile PERSONAL TRAINING visits ONLY! I will not hesitate to refer you out to a Physical Therapy clinic if your needs are beyond personal training. With that said, there are times it is possible to work in tandem with your Physical Therapist and work on deficits that are not addressed.
Please reach out if you are a Physical Therapy clinic as I'm always looking for great clinicians to refer my clients, family, and friends to that are close to their homes. Also, if you are a PT clinic and would like to chat about cross referrals, please reach out. I think we should all help each other out!

Other Common Questions:
Can you help me with balance?
Absolutely. Balance training is one of my core specialties, supported by over 20 years of experience. I use proven, science-based strategies to improve dynamic balance and reduce fall risk. Because balance relies on strength, coordination, mobility, and power, we’ll address all of these areas in a safe, progressive way.
Can you help with flexibility and mobility?
Yes. I’ve helped clients for decades improve functional mobility—making everyday movements easier, safer, and more comfortable. Whether you're feeling stiff or simply want to move more freely, I’ll meet you at your current level and guide your progress.

Can you help me get on and off the floor more easily?
Definitely—and it's a skill I prioritize. Your ability to get on and off the floor is a key indicator of independence and longevity. Together, we'll improve the strength, balance, mobility, and confidence needed to do it safely and consistently.

I've had knee or hip replacement surgery and was discharged from Physical Therapy. Can you still help me?
You bet. I specialize in post-rehab fitness and can help you continue building strength, mobility, and confidence once formal physical therapy ends. I always respect your surgeon’s or therapist’s post-operative guidelines, and I’ll help you get back to the activities and lifestyle you love—safely and effectively.

Just remember to work hard in Physical Therapy—and then let’s take your recovery even further together
By the way, I actually did have my hip replaced in May of 2021 (above images show day after surgery, one year later, and about 3 years later!
Again, this is NOT a physical therapy service so please work hard with your Physical Therapy team!

Can your training improve brain function and memory?
Yes. My method incorporates complex, engaging movements that challenge both body and brain—boosting coordination, reaction time, and cognitive function. Thanks to neuroplasticity, consistent, purposeful movement can support brain health and even improve memory over time.

How long have you been doing this?
I’ve been helping people move, feel, and live better for over 25 years through physical therapy, personal training, and functional movement coaching.

What is your background?
I’m a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) with a B.S. in Biology and Psychology. I split my time between a physical therapy clinic and working privately with adults 60+ to improve strength, balance, and mobility. I take a personalized, empathetic approach—listening closely to your goals and tailoring a plan to help you live with greater ease, confidence, and independence.
Are you certified?
Yes, I hold multiple certifications, including:
NASM – National Academy of Sports Medicine
FAI – Functional Aging Institute
I'm also a Certified Brain Health Trainer, Certified Fall Prevention Specialist, and a Fellow of Applied Functional Science from the Gray Institute.

Do You Offer In-Home Training?
Yes—I provide in-home personal training and movement coaching, and have over 20 years of experience working in clients' homes. I serve a limited geographic area, so feel free to contact me to see if you're within my service zone.

Do You Work in Group or Community Homes?
I do not offer one-on-one sessions in group or community living environments. However, if you're a staff member or coordinator at a senior center, assisted living, or retirement community, I’m open to leading group classes or workshops. Please reach out to discuss collaboration.

Can we meet at my gym?
I don’t train in commercial gyms, as most don’t allow outside trainers. If you live in an apartment complex with a gym, check with your property manager about outside trainer access. My approach is highly effective with minimal equipment—your home is more than enough to get started.

Do you only work with people over 60?
Adults 60+ are my specialty, but I occasionally work with younger clients, especially those with complex movement or post-rehab needs. Feel free to reach out to see if we’re a good fit.

Do you work with clients who are bed-bound, use wheelchairs, or assistive devices?
Yes. I have extensive experience working with clients of all mobility levels. Sessions are fully adapted to meet you where you are—safely and respectfully.

What techniques do you use?
Rather than follow a one-size-fits-all method, I apply movement principles grounded in anatomy, physiology, and psychology—shaped by over 20 years of hands-on experience. Every program is personalized to your needs and goals.
Session Logistics & Investment

How long are the sessions?
Standard sessions are 45 minutes. Shorter or longer sessions are available upon request—rates will adjust based on duration and frequency.

How often can I contact you?
You’re welcome to email, text, or call anytime. I respond within 24 hours—usually much sooner. I stay closely connected with my clients to offer ongoing support throughout your journey.

What is the investment?
Rates vary based on session length and package size. Here’s a general guide:
-
45-minute sessions: Starting under $79 each (with a 24-session package)
-
30-minute sessions: Starting around $60 each (with a 16-session package)
Custom plans and discounts may be available—let’s find what fits your goals and budget. As far as payment goes, I can take cash, check, Venmo, or you can use a credit card on the website by credit card fee fees apply.

Can you work with two people at once?
It’s possible, but not ideal. For safety and personalized attention, I recommend one-on-one sessions. For couples, back-to-back individual sessions typically work best.

Do you teach group classes?
Yes. I’ve led group sessions focused on balance, mobility, yoga, and functional movement. If you represent a senior center or community group, please contact me to discuss a class or workshop.

How long will it take to see results?
Great question! True, long-lasting results take time, dedication, and consistency. While some clients feel better quickly, most significant improvements in strength, balance, and confidence come with a 3 to 6 month commitment. One or two sessions here and there can help, but real change takes ongoing effort—and it’s absolutely worth it.

Can I book a single session for a personalized plan?
Yes. I offer a one-time consult and custom program for $149 (plus tax). You’ll receive a full assessment, clear goals, and a tailored home program. You’re welcome to follow up as needed.
